I thought I’d make a quick splashy sunset picture. It took longer than intended. Some of the layers reminded me of making a lithograph.

The photos I worked from were taken while smoke blew across from a recycling fire. I didn’t notice the black clouds at the time.

I found two offcuts from the corners of a previous linocut. Some little sketches could be tweaked to fit. The test print with an ink pad on a postcard shows there are some angles that need curving.

The packaging that protects computers and televisions is strong and inks up reasonably. It’s too flexible for any official sort of prints but not bad for quick projects.

This drawing has been lying around for ages. Today I added the central figure. The paper has suffered various accidents but it will be ok.

Drawing. Graphite, charcoal and pastels on orange paper.

The moon had a yellow orange glow around it the other evening. I thought I’d add a similar line around a drawing. Do the stars dictate our fate? Who can tell?
This is a little drawing, about 9 x 12cm. Various colours of biro and caran d’ache crayons.

I finished cutting a lino block for future birthday cards. At some point I felt the fine v tool go into the end of my finger. No blood, no pain until the following day. A week later a little v shaped scar has appeared!
After printing a few test copies I went out to deal with some weeds in the garden. It seemed a good idea to clean the green juice off the shears when I’d finished. I sliced a bit of thumb while scrubbing the blades, which caused lots of blood to leak everywhere – same shade as the ink used earlier. Maybe a risk assessment before attempting any further actions…
Which unfinished project have I been attending to, you ask? The Novel, obviously! While editing the numerous versions, I’ve been knitting a cardigan. It’s been unravelled and cast on again a few times but maybe the pattern makes sense at last…

I drew the pattern on squared paper, because I couldn’t follow the written version. Then I had to add colours to give a sense of which row etc.

Can’t see the leaves for the stitches(?)

A drawing from a photo I took in 1995. I scrawled a sketch at the same time but then Firstborn woke up.
